Feral cats are the result
of people abandoning their animal companions. Taking on the responsibility of a
cat should not be taken lightly. To dispose of a creature dependent upon you for
home, food and love should be a capitol offense.
These abandoned cats
can become
wild “feral” after a variable period of time living a rough life on the
streets. They then proceed to produce truly feral offspring who never
experience human contact and are fearful of us. Many people and government authorities treat
them as vermin to be exterminated.
Those cats that make it are
tough cookies strong in body, spirit, and street smarts. They survive as
scavengers- existing on garbage food scraps and the occasional real meal from
people with big hearts.

OKLAHOMA
PETS AND PEOPLE HUMANE SOCIETY
You’re
abandoned, homeless and afraid.
Your
limited days are up at the local pound.
The
morning has dawned for your trip to the gas chamber.
But
then Pets and People arrives.
They
transport you to a safe haven and work to find you a new home.
Pets
and People vans pull up every week at 25 metro area pounds on kill day.
Last
year they rescued and placed almost 4,000 animals in adoptions.
They
are non- profit and staffed by dedicated volunteers.
This
No-kill shelter for cats and dogs of Oklahoma County is run exclusively by
big- hearted volunteers on a shoe- string budget. They travel the state
rescuing pound animals, literally from the claws of death, on euthanasia
day. Volunteers, donation items and cold hard cash are always in short
supply. Donate and shop at their thrift store to help support the homeless
cats and dogs of Oklahoma. Adopt if you can and spread the word. 405-350-PETS Feral
Cats as anti-depressants "After
40 years of worshipping killer dogs and owning nothing but Doberman

Cat Allies:
These guys really work hard for the feral feline population and promote
non-lethal population control methods nationally. Their articles will get
you up to snuff on everything about feral cats from caring for feral
kittens to helping out on a local or national basis. As the proud Moma of
two former feral kittens, I've found their information to be invaluable.
Life
with Two Cats in a City Jungle "Sitting
on his peacefully sleeping mistress, Caesar began his morning ritual
promptly at 7:30 AM. This occurred despite the fact everyone drifted into
sleep only four hours earlier....
