Strategies:

In depth research for current search terms relevant to your business.

The online public may and may not be using the search terms that come into your mind when describing your business. For example, professionals in the Healthcare industry rarely type in employment, as in R.N. or Physician employment. They overwhelming use the term “jobs” instead. A healthcare employment site focusing on the term employment in both content and tags would lose the majority of online job seekers for those fields. However, this preference of jobs over employment terminology does not apply to all other professional fields.

Development of Html titles, meta-tag titles, descriptions and keywords for all major pages, not just the home page.

Many visitors arrive at a site through pages other than the home page.  When you do a search on major engines such as Yahoo or Google many of your results link to a page “within” a site, not to the home page. Development of appropriate web page content and tags for all major pages multiples the possible points of entry for visitors from search engines.

Evaluation of web page content for search engine optimization.

This may include recommendations for content change, repositioning of key terms, and page reorganization to incorporate critical keywords into the website written content.

Appropriate reciprocal linking campaigns and search engine submissions, should occur only after the content and tags are in order.

Some search engines will not list a submitted website that has no other domains linking to it from within the current engine database. Expert construction of your written content and Meta tags are essential components to successful visibility online!

National level marketing or targeted submissions for locale specific businesses.

And after all of the above is accomplished- Search Engine Submissions.

For many Engines html meta tags influence your search engine position and description. Other Search Engines (such as Google) rely heavily on the web page written content and the page title, rather than the meta-tags. And some utilize a combination approach- analyzing both the meta tags and the page content.

Search engines frequently change the “rules” by which they play. But...

  • Exceeding the maximum allowed characters for html tags may result in an engine acknowledging the tags only up to the acceptable character limit.
  • Excessive repetition of keywords is considered spamming and may result in spamming penalties or engine rejection.
  • Excessive submission can result in permanent banning. What is considered “excessive” varies by engine.
  • Keywords should be “grouped” in categories and should be present in the accompanying web page text to avoid spamming penalties.
  • Search engines do not read text within images such as navigation buttons, logos and photos. In their opinion that text does not exist. For this reason web pages that are designed in entirety as pictures should be avoided. Do not count on image alt tags to save you.
